Game: A review of attributive clause
1.Cut up slices of paper. On each slip, write a sentence starter describing a preference.

2.Divide the class into two teams. (A-B / Boys-Girls) Place the slips in a paper bag. Invite the first student from team A to take a slip and look at it. [Grammar Focus: Attributive Clause]
(一)構(gòu)成: 在句子中，跟在名詞或代詞后面充當(dāng)該名詞或代詞修飾語的從句叫做定語從句，被修飾的名詞或代詞叫先行詞。定語從句由關(guān)系代詞或關(guān)系副詞引導(dǎo)。that/which/who/whom/whose/when/where/why作為引導(dǎo)詞本身詞義淡化。
(二)用法：
I.關(guān)系代詞who/whom/whose/that/which引導(dǎo)的定語從句。關(guān)系代詞在句子中所能作的成份，列表說明。

that在句中作主語或賓語（作賓語可省略）指

II.關(guān)系副詞when/where/why引導(dǎo)的定語從句
1）when引導(dǎo)，其先行詞通常為time/day/hour/year等表示時間的名詞。
March 23, 1990 was the day when Jim was born.
I’ll never forget the year when I became a soldier.
2）where引導(dǎo)，其先行詞通常為place/room/house/street/area等表示地點(diǎn)的名詞。
I don’t remember the place where we met each other for the first time.

3）why引導(dǎo)，其先行詞通常為why。
I don’t know the reason why she looks so upset today.
III.介詞加which/whom引導(dǎo)的定語從句（該介詞可移到定語從句末端，此時which/whom可省略）

IV.名詞＋介詞＋which/whom引導(dǎo)的定語從句

1）which前面可以有介詞，that不行。

2）先行詞是all/everything/nothing/something/anything/much/little/few等不定代詞時其后必須用that；作為先行詞的名詞前有序數(shù)詞、形容詞最高級以及the only/the very(恰好；正好)/
the just(正好；恰好)等限定語時其后必須用that。
There is nothing that can make him happy again.
That is the first/the best/the only movie (that) I’d like to see.
?從定語從句與先行詞的關(guān)系來看，定語從句可分為限制性和非限制性兩種：
1）限制性定語從句與先行詞關(guān)系很緊密，若被去掉主句存在的意義將嚴(yán)重受損。
He who doesn’t study hard won’t pass the exam.
March 23, 1990 was the day when Jim was born.
2）非限制性定語從句與先行詞關(guān)系不緊密，只是對先行詞作一些補(bǔ)充或附加說明，即使去掉也不太影響主句存在的意義（that不能引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句）。

I gave our new teacher a bunch of flowers, which made her very happy.
Miss Li, who came to see us yesterday, is our teacher.
3）限制性定語從句不能用逗號“,”與先行詞隔開，而非限制性定語從句通常用“，”與主句隔開。（例句見上例）
?使用定語從句應(yīng)注意以下幾點(diǎn)：
1）關(guān)系代詞在定語從句中作主語，其后動詞單復(fù)數(shù)形式由關(guān)系代詞前的名詞或代詞（即先行詞）決定。
He who doesn’t study hard won’t pass the exam.
2）因?yàn)殛P(guān)系代詞或關(guān)系副詞在定語從句中已充當(dāng)一個成分，該從句中不能出現(xiàn)與它重復(fù)的成分出現(xiàn)。
That is the only movie (that) I’d like to see.(√)
That is the only movie (that) I’d like to see it.(×)
在該例句中引導(dǎo)詞that作定語從句中see的賓語，不能在see后面再加上一個重復(fù)意義的it作賓語。
3）定語從句中的固定短語不能拆分成介詞＋which/whom引導(dǎo)的結(jié)構(gòu)。

The music is great because you can dance to it. You can take this to a party.
Also, these musicians write their own lyrics. {part 2}

Blood Donation (獻(xiàn)血)
A grown-up person has ten or eleven pints (品脫) of blood inside his or her body. We can lost a pint of blood without feeling anything, but if we lose too much blood, we feel when weak and cold.
