George Gershwin, born in 1998, was one of Aerica’s greatest coposers. He published his first song when the was eighteen years old. During the next twenty years he wrote ore than five hundred songs.
any of Gershwin’s songs were first written for usical plays perfored in theatres in New York City. In 1928, Gershwin went to Paris. He applied to study coposition (作曲)with the well-known usician Nadia Boulanger, but she rejected hi. You can’t always predict a heavy rain or reeber your ubrella. But designer ikhail Belvacv doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. That’s why he created lapbrella, a lap post with its own rain sensing ubrella.
The designer says he coe up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia. “once, I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street ad saw the street laps lighting up people trying to hide fro the rain. I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy(傘蓬)built into a street lap.” he said.
The lapbrella is a standard-looking street lap fitted with an ubrella canopy. It has a built-in electric otor which can open or close the ubrella on deand. Sensors(傳感器)then ensure that the ubrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining.
In addition to the rain sensor, there’s also a 360°otion sensor on the biberglass street lap which detects whether anyone’s using the lapbrella. After three inutes of not being used the canopy is closed.
According to the designer, the lapbrella would ove at a relatively low speed, so as not to cause har to the pedestrians. Besides, it would be grounded to protect fro possible lighting strike. Each lapbrella would offer enough shelter for several people. Being installed at 2 eters off the ground, it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians.
While there are no plans to take lapbrella into production, Belyacv says he recently introduced his creation one oscow Departent, and insists this creation could be installed on y street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter.

Sparrow is a fast-food chain with 200 restaurants. Soe years ago, the group to which Sparrow belonged was taken over by another copany. Although Sparrow showed no sign of declining, the chain was generally in an unhealthy state. With ore and ore fast-food concepts reaching the arket, the Sparrow enu had to struggle for attention. Pearson resisted, arguing for an advertising capaign designed to convince custoers that visits to Sparrow restaurants were fun. Such an attept to establish a positive relationship between a copany and the general public was unusual for that tie. The capaign itself changed the traditional advertising style of the fast-food industry. The TV ads of Sparrow focused on entertainent and featured original sons perfored by a variety of stars.
