We are one of the farthest communities on Earth. Situated in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, our nearest neighbor, Ascension island is over 1,100 km away. Economically disadvantaged preschool children were trained in one of these three types of fantasy activities over a school year. One group of children listened to fairy tales, and then acted them out. The children would pantomime (演啞劇) such things as the wolf blowing the pigs' houses down, or the pigs running and screaming with the wolf in hot pursuit (追趕). The children were encouraged to trade roles from session to session. Simply listening to and discussing the stories was usually no more effective than the control situation.
